Kickin It Old Skool Blog Challenge - Day 1

*I'm joining Jamie Ridler and Shannon Ridler in their Kickin It Old Skool Blog Challenge.  It's a month long challenge that will encourage us to post every day.  If you want to join in, click here or on the button on the left side bar.

Day One: De-Selfie

I'm not big on self portraits.  I'm not big on having my photo taken at all.  Heck, I don't even like looking in a mirror most of the time.  But here I am.  (This is a photo from 2010 - I basically look the same except my hair is a little lighter now.)

So when I went to the Kickin It Old Skool blog to see what today's prompt was, I was well, dismayed for a second to see I had to post a selfie.  Then I remember my challenge to myself from a week or so ago at Jamie's Creativity Coffee.  We were asked what risk we were going to take this month and my reply was to put my face out in the world more.  So... guess I can mark that off my list!  :-)

See you tomorrow with another Kickin It Old Skool post.

Woohoo to you, Laura, for taking the risk! We're feeling the fear and doing things anyway, and that is always a good thing.

I don't like self-portraits either. Love this photo of you :)

Yes, put your face out in the world more. I wonder why we don't like self-portraits, and whether this is an unnecessary by-product of our an overly image conscious and image-perfect culture. But, let me get off the soapbox and just say: You have a good face and look forward to seeing it out in the world.

Congratulations for taking the step and posting the photo! I too don't like taking pictures of myself, but I'm getting better at it. Thank you for sharing!

I am giggling at how beautifully the universe answered your intention to put your face out into the world. Thank you for your courage and showing up on this first post. I love seeing faces. It helps me connect to the person.

I'm so glad you put yourself out there! Awesome to meet you, and I think it's safe to say that we're all most definitely here for you as we each put ourselves out there a little more this month! :)

Put it out there baby!!
You don't walk around with a bag on your head during the day do you? Everyone you encounter gets to see you-- we are no different. No judgement, as a matter of fact when someone asks for a selfie, that means mug it up!! LOL It's life, it's all about what kind of fun you had while you were here~ hope to see more of you as December rolls along!
Peace~

Hi Laura, I had the same reaction this morning when reading the prompt. A selfie? There's nothing like taking on new challenges.

I look forward to getting to know you as we respond to challenging prompts!
