Saturday Sky

Can you believe it? I'm actually posting this on Saturday! Woo hooo! Sorry posts have been so sporadic lately. There is a lot going on right now and when I do get on the computer it is either for work or work at home. Hopefully more updates will come soon, including progress photos of the knitting. :-)

Eye Candy Friday

For today's ECF I was going to post a photo of my knitting work in progress. However, I realized that I left my camera at home and haven't downloaded the pictures yet. So, instead I give you...
...my favorite blue-eyed boy. This is my kittie, my first kittie ever. He is now close to 13 years old. I can't believe it! He is still a sweet-heart and I just love him!

Anywho, don't have much else to say right now. I am back at work after two days home with migraines. I really don't want to be here. But, I gotta do what I gotta do.

It works! Woo hoo!

Blogger has finally fixed my blog so I can post and no longer have to use word verification to post. Thank you Blogger!

So, on with the revelry. Today is Friday! Yay, for Fridays! It is the end of a long work week and also Eye Candy Friday. With that in mind, here is a picture for my first Eye Candy Friday.

This is a sun and moon that I painted while in Cancun. I gave it to a friend of mine and she really seemed to like it.

Anyway, gotta get back to work now. Go Heels! They play tonight to get to the Elite Eight. Hopefully they will pull out a win.

Hmmm... does it really work?

I have been trying to post to this blog since early Friday and have been unable to due to a weird error. Finally it seems to be working. Now if blogger would just remove the stupid word verification crap, I'd be really happy.

Since I couldn't post, I missed Saturday Sky and Green Thumb Sunday and a new thing I joined which is Eye Candy Friday. So, I'm going to try to post a picture for each of those later today. I already have the pictures, just have to get it posted. Maybe during my lunch hour.

Anyway, I'll try to post again later with something a little more interesting.

March Madness is in the house...

It's basketball time! Last Sunday, my UNC Tarheels won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and received a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. They play their first game tonight at 9:40 or so. I sure hope I can stay awake for the game. :-)

This weekend looks to be busy. My Grandmother's birthday is today and I'm meeting her and my mum for lunch today. Tomorrow is dinner with friends, Saturday is typical family day and my first voodoo ceremony and Sunday is family birthday celebrations. Whew... I'm tired just thinking about it.

Somewhere in there has to be some house cleaning, laundry, yard work and study.

Anyway, just wanted to post something and say hello to my few readers! :-)

I'll leave you with a picture of a tree stump that I took at the lake last week. It just struck me as neat. I know...I take weird pictures! :-)

Is it really time for Spring?

I walked out to the garden today. My garlics and collards seem to have weathered the winter very well. I'm going to have to dig up my garlics when I get ready for new planting. I'll have to till and am planning to expand the size of my garden. I also checked on my pots and it seems my sage, oregano and chives are all starting to come out. If I could be assured of a decent snowfall, then I would love to have one more blast of winter. But if I can't have snow, then I'm ready for spring. I'm ready to open the windows and air out the house. I'm ready for warmth and flowers, planting and watching what I plant grow over time. It makes me feel as if I've done something important.

I still haven't decided what to plant this year in the vegetable garden. I'd also like to expand my herb collection.

GTS

Since I have missed the last few Green Thumb Sunday posts, I thought I'd post more than one picture today. I'm hoping to make up for the ones I missed. The first, above, is a picture of lily of the valley growing in my front yard. The second, below, is of crocus which is also growing in my yard.

So, there are some pictures and that is really about all I have to post tonight. I'm very tired and have had quite a long weekend. Oh... I do have one last thing to say...

HOW BOUT DEM HEELS!!!!!! :-)
2007 ACC Champions!

GO HEELS!

Snagged a Movie Meme

I saw this meme over at Nutmeg Knitter and just had to do it. I love movies! I currently have two from Netflix that I haven't had a chance to see. Gotta put that in the schedule somewhere! :-)

Well, I counted 125 that I had seen. That must mean I have no life. Huh, there's a surprise for ya! :-)

Now I know...

Turns out the shop where I have to buy my yarn for class does not carry the yarn I needed for the project I wanted to do. So, after several days of looking through patterns, I have finally found something to knit. I even bought the yarn yesterday. I'm making the Iceland Felted Bag. I am putting a trim on it but it is not with Dragonfly (which the store doesn't carry), but is a similar looking yarn. I'm excited to start this new knitting project. The colors I chose are black Iceland and the trim has several shades of blue, green and silver in it.

I'll try to post pictures later. I've taken some, I just don't have my camera here at work.

I have another busy weekend this weekend. Tonight I'm taking some clothes to a friend to see if there is something she would like to wear for tomorrow. Tomorrow I'm going to the lake to fish and then in the evening we have a Women's Spirituality Group Meeting. Sunday is my usual visit with Grandmother.

So, that is the plan for the next few days. I hope to get started on my bag, but I've also got to finish my taxes, get the laundry done, clean the house, and start getting my yard sale items together. Ugh... so much to do!

Still hunting a new project...

I really was excited about the project I was going to work on. However, the shop where I have to buy my supplies for class doesn't sell that yarn. They didn't have anything that I could substitute for it that I liked, so I'm back on the pattern hunt. I think I'm going to have to break down and make a bag that they have there. It is okay, but it isn't what I wanted.

I haven't been around much lately and feel like I'm way behind on my blog reading. I hadn't realized how many I like to read until I tried to get caught up today. I think it will take me several days to get caught up.

Things have not been going well this past week and over last weekend. I can't really talk about it here, in case someone who knows me in real life reads this blog. Somethings just have to stay private.

I had been hoping things would slow down, but in fact they are speeding up. All of a sudden I have a very active social life. I sure hope I can handle it all.

If anyone has any suggestions for my next knitting pattern, please let me know. I'm desperate to find something.

Blessings,

New project

I think I have decided on my next knitting project. It doesn't seem so complicated that I feel overwhelmed but I don't think it would be too easy that I would get bored. Plus I get a wonderful present for myself at the end! :-)

It has been a really long week and I swear I feel like I can't keep my head above water right now. There just seems to be something every day. I think I have actually been home maybe one night this week and that was Monday night. I have plans with friends tonight and tomorrow night.

My Grandmother is still in the hospital and they still don't know what kind of infection she has. Apparently she had a very bad night last night, which means my mum had a very bad night. For some reason that I just cannot fathom, the nurses will not come in and help when my Grandmother has to get up to use the bathroom if my mum is there. When my uncle stayed they were right there to help. And the few times they did send someone they sent a man! I'm sorry, but my 90 year old (almost) grandmother does not need the indignity of having a strange man come and wipe her butt for her. She is so weak she can't stand on her own anymore.

My mum and I had an argument this afternoon about it and I told her she needs to talk to the head person in charge on that floor and make them understand that she needed help. My mother just said yes but I could hear in her voice that she wasn't going to do it. My grandmother had four accidents last night trying to get to the bathroom.

I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't seem to help. I've offered to stay at the hospital tonight, but my mum says that she or my uncle will be there.

Well, I suppose I shouldn't worry about it, but I'm a worrier. Ugh...

FO: Top Down Baby Sweater

So I have finally finished my first real knitting project. I have pictures below. The first is the front view and the second is the back view. The lighting didn't do well in these pictures. I guess I'm going to have to start taking my stuff out in the sunlight to get good pictures.

Anyway, it is done and I completed it in the eight weeks that I took the class. I'm signed up for a second class but it doesn't start until the 20th of March. Now I just have to figure out what I want to knit next! So many choices! I think I would like to do something that I will keep. I'm seriously considering a bag, you know how much I love bags, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions for me?
