my saturday...

It's been a beautiful day here in my little world.  I woke early and went for my walk in the very cold outdoors.  I've piddled around the house all day, making treats, admiring pumpkins, setting the fireplace with wood.

They say we might get a frost or even a freeze in the next two days so I picked all the tomatoes that were left on the vine.  I'm hoping they will ripen up.  I purchased a firewood storage rack and set it up in my little patio today.  I have a friend of my mum's who has agreed to be my firewood source.  I'm so looking forward to that aspect of winter.

Tomorrow is game day and not shown on local TV here. I'll head out to the bar to watch with my brother, s-i-l, and mum.  Immediately following the game, I have to attend a wedding.  Luckily it is at the same hotel where we are going to watch the game.  :-)

I'm exhausted and am going to go rest my bones and relax my mind with a bit of knitting.  My shrug project is feeling a bit neglected, I think.  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

What's the weather like in your area?

thanks for stopping by,
love & blessings

We're having beautiful autumn weather here -- sure hope it lasts for a long, long time before winter sets in!

I had SO many green tomatoes when I finally decided to uproot the plants this Autumn, that I ended up composting them. Afterwards, someone told me that placing banana peel with your green tomatoes will ripen them. I wish I'd known sooner, but can't tell you if it works or not mind you.

Gorgeous photographs. Feet up and knitting sounds perfect :)

The tomato fruit can actually survive frost, even though the plant doesn't. this means you can leave them to ripen on the plant for a few days after the plant has died. But if you want your tomatoes to ripen after they've been picked put them warm, in sunlight, next to some over-ripe apples :)
