a really good day

These beauties were found at the grocers this morning. The yellow mums are so lovely that I decided I needed more fresh flowers in my home. These are on the kitchen table so I get to enjoy them often.

Please excuse the crappy photo, I was tired, and didn't pay much attention when I snapped the photo. This is the composter that my brother and sister in law gave me at the holidays. It was finally nice enough outside and I had enough energy to work on it. I'm very excited. It even came with a little pamphlet explaining how composting works and how to get the most of your composter. :)

Before I went to the grocers this morning, I went to a local big box home improvement store looking for a seed starting tray. I found just what I was after, plus a whole lot more! I can't wait to plant those dahlias as well as the other things I found.

I spent several hours working in the gardens. Doing a little preemptive weeding and ordering of borders, as well as picking up broken limbs. While I was out there I found a few surprises...

And I'm finishing up the evening with a little laundry and this...

a few apple cinnamon and a few blueberry (they came from a packet not homemade - but that is okay). This will give me a nice little bit of breakfast for the week.

Tomorrow begins another week of work, but I have something really wonderful to look forward to at the end of the week. This will hopefully motivate me to persevere - remember that? - through the week.

I hope you have enjoyed this lovely spring-ish day and have a wonderful week ahead.

OK, where do I start? First, the composting. I love your cute compost box, I really really want to try composting but our city lot is so very small, it barely fits our garden and driveway and garage. I almost want to tear out the garage but Nature Boy would freak out as it's his Man-Cave where he keeps all his woodworking equipment. So please please share how it goes for you and if it ever gets smelly (my biggest fear). Second, love the flowers (I LOVE DAHLIAS), I can't believe you have some growing OUTSIDE already. My yard still is mostly snow but it is melting. Last, the muffins, they kill me, they look so good and I get hungry every time I pop by and see your header. I'm glad you are feeling better and hope it carries you through your work week. Happy Near-Spring to you!

You look to be making yourself busy here soon. Yet I can understand completely. It is a time to start getting things out in the garden and such. love your compost box. I have been thinking about getting one similar... And the muffins.. yum

Ooohhh, heaven in a garden...looks like you'll be having a great time this spring. I miss my garden, I'm stuck with a barren yard at my current house. It eats away at me but I love the flowers you bought, a good dose of cheeriness is a great idea. Glad you're feeling better!

Just came to your blog via ... (it is so frustrating that I click on links and then cannot recall the thread that lead me to a particular blog). But your post just thrilled me because of those lovely snowdrop and crocus photos. I think those two winter/spring flowers epitomise the lengthening days; they always bring me joy, here in the frozen UK. I'll check back on your posts as soon as I have a spare moment, meanwhile, 'Hello'.

Oh my ... the snow is still melting on my little acre, though most is gone now from my main vegetable garden. I have seedlings started indoors ... and I'm itchin' to get out there and plant some peas!

Ain't it grand?

Hello again - just another quick hello to say thankyou for following my two blogs; I hope you will enjoy my posts. It's too cold still to plant or sow anything in the garden, but my wormery is doing fine (the resulting compost will be rich and friable), as is my bokashi composter which you can keep in the kitchen and DOES NOT SMELL at all. Nothing compostable is wasted here and I also have an outdoor homemade compost bin way down the garden.
