yes and no and not quite...

greetings and salutations lovelies...

yep, i'm still here.  honestly, time just keeps vanishing!

by the time i get to the computer each day or whatever day i can get to the computer, i fall asleep before i can get to the blog.

anyhoo...

how are you out there in bloglandia?  i haven't been around to visit and i feel bad about that.  i do want to get around and catch up with everyone.  i'll keep working on finding my full-bodied yeses and taking the nos or not quites out and hopefully that will give me opportunities to get online more often.

i've spent the last almost month (month? geez!) working in the garden, continuing what seems like the never-ending process of cleaning, clearing and organizing everything i own, making new friends and starting a new project in the neighborhood.  i'll tell you about that last thing another time.

a little peek at the first real garden harvest of the season.  lots of herbs - chives, marjoram, wedgewood thyme and english thyme, oregano and tulsi, a couple of tiny red and green peppers that were ready to pick, the first two cayenne peppers of the season and buried underneath, the first tomato and a few jalapenos.  the jalapenos are stunning to me, as they are from the pot of pepper plants i kept alive in the dining room over the winter.  the plants are doing so well!

one thing is that i've been getting out in the garden super early due to the photo above.  that heat is insane.  the sun touches my skin and i swear it feels like it catches fire.  if i remember correctly, on this particular day, i'd had to spend the morning in the next town for my monthly infusion...

yes, this is me that morning having my infusion.  it wasn't too bad at 7am when i left to go to the hospital.  the meds always drain me of every bit of energy and i have to drive myself home (about 30minute drive), so it is kind of rough.  once i arrive home i'm done in and pretty much just sleep or vegetate with a book or show or my art journal.  anything i don't have to exert energy or brain power for.

that particular day, i was able to stay in the cool a/c of my little home. yay.

anyhoo.  y'all...i have so much i want to share.  i really need to figure out how to get here more.  how to get posts typed up and ready to go and get photos taken and edited and such without it taking 3 or 4 hours at a time.

how do y'all work that out?  do you have a system?  a schedule?  because of never knowing where my pain level and energy level is going to be at any given moment, schedules don't work so well for me. at least they haven't in the past.  maybe i should revisit it, from a different viewpoint.

hmmm.

alright.  i'm outta here.

i hope you are all doing the best you can out there.  i know the world is crazy, but we have to keep our hope that we can create the world we want where we treat all people equally, and all the other things that need to change.

i'll be back, soon's i can.

love & kisses & magical wishes...

code orange...

i missed my walk this morning and i can really feel it in my body.

we are in a code orange air quality warning.  ever since i went out to water the garden early this morning i've felt like i have grit or sand in the back of my throat. so, an inside day it is.

that bunny has been hanging around since the spring.  he/she started off really tiny and is not afraid of people.

a few days ago i was in the kitchen checking on something and when i turned around i found that second guy just outside the back door. we stopped and stared at each other for a while, then he took off to the tomato jungle.

my 9-10ft tall sunflower (the only one of the 20 or so seeds i planted that sprouted) is finally blooming.  i was expecting it to be one of the super large heads since it is so tall. but it has about 8 or 9 smaller blooms coming out.

anyhoo...just a random little post from the garden.  i'm still picking lots of cherry tomatoes every day, sometimes twice a day.  there has been knitting, practical magic watching, and even painting.

how has your week been?  anything fun going on?

thanks for stopping in...

friday in the garden...

just a few things i've found in the garden this week.  i'd all but given up on the cucumbers as they seemed to be going dormant. but today i found lots of little flowers, raggedy though they are.

on a walk this week i found a leaf the red/green/orange colors of autumn (but didn't take a picture). so when i found this yellow leaf tonight, it seemed strange.  it is way too early for autumn to come in down here.  we're spending our days in the 90's. sweltering even early am just as the sun comes up.

i pruned my rose bush early june, maybe late may, and she has been gifting me multiple blooms. unfortunately, the japanese beetles live near by and love to feast on my roses (and the sunflower leaves).  i pick them off whenever i find them. but the are good at hiding from me.

the black-eyed susans are blooming and the tomato bushes are loaded.  i pick a large handful of ripe tomatoes every day.  i've been gifting some to my neighbor, but i think i'm going to have to start freezing some as i just can't eat them fast enough. although, i'd like to try making homemade salsa.  i think i have everything i need except fresh cilantro (mine has already bolted and is going to seed).

anyhoo...that's where i've been a lot this week.  in the garden and in the kitchen (cherry jam, blueberry bread, julia child's white loaf bread).  i haven't tried the jam yet (tomorrow for breakfast now that i have that jc bread).  i still have to do something with the a load of cherries in my fridge (they'd been seriously on sale).  i'm thinking cherry bread and more cherry jam.  at the very least, i can pit and freeze them for use later.  the fruit bread is my Grandmother's recipe and is very easy.  You can substitute pretty much any fruit, at least, i think so.  in the past, i've made banana, apple, peach, pumpkin and now blueberry.

that's enough of my rambling. i have a few things to do before i head to bed.  i'm trying to get up early, early in the mornings to get the garden watered, tended and get in a walk before it gets too hot.

thanks for stopping by...

blindly, madly...

wait...what is that i spy? could it be? behind the clouds? is that blue sky? and...yes, yes it is!  and...and...the SUN!  it has been days and days since i've seen the sun and i am very happy it is here.

i rushed out to the garden to see how things had fared.  poor mother of tomatoes.  they love her so much, they are swooping and swirling around her.  (i've NEVER seen so many little tomatoes in my garden In My LIFE)

look at those babies! so cute! i can't wait to nosh on them...

the hosta is thriving, droopy blooms and all.  this plant i brought from the mountain house and stuck in a pot, hmmm...maybe 12 or 13 years ago?  a long, long time.  and it does so well!

everything was so green and blooming madly that i just had to take a little twirl in my old/new flouncy dress.  i found it in the back of my closet a day or so ago and tried it on and it fit! yay!

so...this has been my day, except for a serious migraine attack that sent me back to my bed.  it took me 10 minutes of blindly, madly searching to find my ice pack and it turned out it was right in front of my face.

we're to have a couple of clear hot days this weekend before rain returns on monday.  i'm hoping to set my alarm and get in the garden suuuuper early to pull some weeds before the heat sets in.  i guess i'll have to turn my a/c back on too. :-(

oh well...

how's the weather where you are? (i know...i'm weird!)  any plans for the weekend?
