ad nauseum infinitum...

1 - i'm spending way too much time in front of the screen lately...between the computer and the tv news stations my eyes are crossing...

2 - this exclusion of all else in the world but US election results by the news stations is ridiculous and just another example of what is wrong with this country.  yes, it is very important.  but you sitting there, on air saying the same things over and over, ad nauseum infinitum will not get those votes counted any faster.  jeez...

3 - i'm still longing for that big old country house in the mountains with loads of acreage that i can grow my own veggies, raise chickens and wander around outside without seeing or hearing another human soul...it is my dream and a variation of it has been my dream all my life. (when i was little i wanted to be *olivia walton, without the baptist part)  *points to you if you know who that is...

my focus is so scattered and my mind racing so much...we'll just call this three things thursday and move on...

what three things are on your mind today?

love, kisses & magical wishes...

yesterday...

yesterday was a day, wasn't it?

i ran errands and my neighbor and i went to do our civic duty.

the stress of that and the potential outcome had me all messed up, so i decided to unplug for the rest of the day and night.  i turned off my cell, computer and tv.  a super migraine (what i call the ones that knock me out) was forming, so i took my pill and laid down for a while.

when i woke, it was a little better so i made dinner and sat down to work on my sketching.  i couldn't focus, too much pain.  i ended up watching "practical magic" on dvr and doing some slow stitching. then took a magazine to bed to relax.

i was really hoping for results when i woke today.  it would be nice to at least know when the results will be made known.

well...we've done what we can, now we figure out how to go on, one way or another...

today is for taking down halloween decor.  i hope to get at least half of it put away, but the migraine is sneaking up so i'm just going to take my time...

here's to hoping for quick results and a good day...

ten things on tuesday...

 - cold, cozy mornings warm my spirit...

 - gratitude notes are perfect for this week and i'm very grateful for them...

 - homemade sliders...

 - candles lighting my ancestor altar...

 - 3 hours of sketching last night and it turned out pretty good...

 - i finally understand bullet journaling, and i really love it...

 - making an effort to make sure my kitchen is clean before i go to bed every night, it makes mornings nicer...

 - clementines from the grocer...

 - fallen leaves crunching under my feet whenever i step outside...

 - starting to find football interesting again...good thing they're 7-0...

just a few random thoughts for today...

hope you have a wonderful day!

in the garden...

the garden is winding down.  i've brought in what i could.  the lettuce has been growing very slowly and i'm hoping it continues to grow.  this is only the second time i've grown lettuce and this batch is from the seeds from the spring growth.

it is wonderfully cold here this morning.  i love winter.  sweaters, blankets, fires...just all things cozy make me happy.

the wind whipped through here last night bringing this cold front.  it was wild, lying in bed listening to it whistle through the trees...

aren't camellia blossoms just beautiful?

i keep thinking i'll take that bush out (it's in a bad place that blocks a lot of my space) but then it blooms and i just don't know if i can part with it...

well...i'm off to piddle around the house.  time to start taking down the halloween decor, i suppose...

how is your garden growing?

love, kisses & magical wishes...

01 November 2020

hello november...

i can't believe it is already the 1st of november.  i was pretty much checked out for the majority of october and missed so much.  the life of someone with chronic illness...

i'm learning to not be too hard on myself, though...

we're under a freeze warning for tonight.  i spent a lot of yesterday bringing in my plants and potting up some i'd been rooting.  i'm hoping they will overwinter well.

we've had some lovely sunsets lately and the moon the last week has been gorgeous.

today i made pumpkin bread using my grandmother's recipe.  instead of two loaves, i went for some muffins and finally used a decorative pan of pumpkins, leaves and acorns.  i put too much batter in the decorative, so they don't have a flat bottom.  but still so cute!

i'm in the process of trying to figure out how to handle thanksgiving this year.  i'm still not comfortable having people in the house.  i suppose instead of just not doing it at all, i'll make to go batches.  there still time to give it some more thought...

i'm anxious for tuesday to be over and worried about what will happen when it is...

well, it's almost dark and i need to go cover the lettuce and make dinner.

how was your october?

love, kisses & magical wishes...

01 October 2020

1st of october...

well...October already.

is it just me, or does it seem like it has both arrived very quickly and taken forever to get here?  this year is just ...

i'm hoping to get to the farmer's market next week to hunt for pumpkins and mums (that's an old photo from a few years ago up there).  there weren't any when i went a couple weeks ago.

i changed my flag and put up my halloween decor outside this morning.  i've still to give my granddaddy's old witch and cats a clean up and fresh paint job.  then i can add them to the outdoor decor...

i wish i had a photo of my granddaddy's displays he use to put out.  i'll see if i can't find some to scan and show you.  he was so creative and every holiday had these big outdoor displays in the yard.

just a short post today to say i'm still here and to welcome october...

how have you been doing?  any big october plans?

love, kisses & magical wishes...

in the garden...

i finally made it to the farmers market, last week i think, or maybe the week before.  i brought home gala apples, squash and zucchini, peaches, atlantic salmon and a mess of beans.  i froze the beans and ate everything else, although i'm still working on the apples.

every time i prep fresh green beans, it takes me back to one of my favorite memories.  sitting on the front porch of my grandparents house (my dream house) with my grandmommy, swinging in the glider and snapping and stringing beans.  we always had a cold bottle of pepsi.  back then, my granddaddy was a distributer (i think that's the word).  he delivered the products to the stores.  he would bring home bottles by the case.  these are the old glass bottles.  i loved them so much.

the garden is winding down out there.  the high temps seem to have broken and i can see things changing.  the magic basil is still going and i'm still hoping for flowering so i can collect seeds.  i'm still getting strawberries and tomatoes and the lettuce i planted is starting to sprout.

and the spiders... there have been so many huge webs and huge spiders out there...crazy times.

how are things going in your garden?

thanks for stopping in...

lots of love & magical blessings
